Veteran Rob Smith added another accolade to his decorated amateur golf career when winning the Gents Scratch at the Nairn Club Championship finals.
Smith beat Scott Brown 3&2 at the former Walker Cup venue after earlier defeating Jamie Whittet and Finlay Wickenden.
Competitions and Handicap Convenor at Nairn, Smith won the Nairn County Championship on home soil in 2023 and has previously won the Inverness title.
Brown had progressed thanks to victories over Malcolm Macleman and Jake Carpenter.
Carinne Taylor claimed the Ladies Scratch title with a 5&4 victory over Summer Elliott. She had previously beaten Sammy Fotheringham to reach the showpiece match, while Elliott defeated Iona Reid.
In the handicap division, Christine McAndrew took the Ladies crown with a 6&5 success against Rosalind Miller. She had already beaten Jacqueline Ebner in the last eight and Suzanne Abbott in the semi-finals, while Miller earlier came through against Christine Marshall and Joanna Macdonald.
The gents handicap match play was won by Bruce Thomson. He came through a tight match with Tim Hinde 2&1 having earlier beaten Graham Stuart and Alan Mackinnon.
Hinde qualified for the final with victories over Ross McShane and Stephen Chalmers.
The match play competition followed 36 holes of weekend qualifying – one round each day – before running throughout the following week and culminating in the Friday finals.
It was a wonderful evening for golf, well attended by members who watched the games and enjoyed refreshments in the clubhouse afterwards, with the club also grateful to all volunteers who helped.
